Reflections on EVA Process

This assignment really got me to delve further into proper analysis of any learning venture.  No longer will I be swayed as an educator by the bells and whistles of a pitch or site until I have properly researched the team, advisors, tenets of the venture, premise and gain further knowledge or awareness of the statistical data surrounding a new product or service.  It is very easy to be pulled in by a professional profit site, that has a stellar team with lots of investment backing.

At first glance, the venture seemed fantastic but upon closer research, the weaknesses outweighed strengths in the SWOT analysis.

For this project, I found that it was very difficult to find statistical market data on proven improvement of student academics with telepractice and success of its use.  I was locked out of sites because I am not a speech language pathologist to access data.  From an analysts point of view I would discourage any administrator or district to buy a product for their entire school until it was properly researched and trial tested by educators and students, especially if there was a cost involved.  Any budgetary expenses are so closely monitored by a board, so adequate justification for its use must be warranted.

The task of researching and analyzing a learning venture, I realize that self-assessment, student-assessment, surveying students, faculty, administrators and parents would be my second approach after research, before advocating for any new learning venture.

Becoming an educational venture analyst has helped me become increasingly analytical/skeptical in any prospective new service to help students.  For Assignment #3, knowing more about the specific needs of my students and fellow educators will be a key approach in which product I chose to pitch.

As an educational venture analyst, I now feel that I have the prospective of a potential investor to comprehend the needs I have to put forth for my Assignment #3, for my pitch to be more marketable, credible, and provide all the necessary information and statistical data an investor would need to support my product.
